Universalist Unitarian Church of East Liberty

Worship

Our Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays.

The Sunday Schedule:

  • Worship Services are held each Sunday at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Children attend the first part of each service before departing for classes and the nursery.  Intergenerational services are held about once a month. The Rev. Cynthia Landrum conducts approximately three services a month year-round. Other services with guest speakers, special themes and lay worship leaders provide a diversity of voices and viewpoints.

  • Religious Education has two offerings depending on age. The K through 6th grade students will be learning about science and the seventh principle until December. Starting January 1, a curriculum about Universalist history will connect children to the roots of this historically Universalist church, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of its formation in 2006. 7th through 12th graders will study Islam, Judaism, and Christianity this fall. The winter term will focus on Universalist history. The teens will also have opportunities to attend youth conferences. Classes begin at 11:15 a.m. each Sunday. Speak to Religious Education Coordinator Sharon Pedersen to participate in this rewarding program.

  • Nursery and Childcare are provided each Sunday with a combination of paid and volunteer workers. Children aged 5 and under enjoy play and stories from 11:15 until 12:10. We depend on adult volunteer parents and non-parents alike to support the paid worker. Also it is very important that children are picked up as soon as worship is over.

  • Social Hour is an opportunity after the worship service to enjoy the company of old friends, make new ones, and enjoy refreshments after services each week in the Social Hall. Volunteer teams provide the food. To volunteer, sign-up in the social hall to host social hour.

  • Choir Practice is held at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Everyone is invited to join the choir, and no audition or experience is necessary. The choir usually sings in services every three or four weeks. The Music Director is Nancy Cooper.
